I haven't had you do any blogging yet this year. I think it is definitely time for our first blog assignment. Here it is: Please select one thing that we have done so far this year in 6th grade and write about it! Remember to think about how you select an IDEA for writing. I know you all loved the camping trip, but writing about the whole trip would be "grocery list" writing. Maybe, you would write about setting up your tent OR climbing the fire tower. Pick something you enjoyed and really describe it for me! Your entry should be very detailed. Think about writing at around 10 good sentences. This blog is due on Friday, October 26th. Have fun. Do a great job!

One event that really sticks out to me was when we all climbed the fire tower on our fantastic camping trip. When I first saw the tower I got all shaky because it was as tall as a giant and it looked as if it swayed with the breeze. When I took the first step onto the tower I got very excited. Mid-way through climbing I got butterflies in my stomach because I looked down and saw the rest of our class, tiny as ants. Just two more steps............. VICTORY!!!!!!! I had made it all the way to the top. We all gathered in a small box like room at the top and talked about the history of the tower. When I looked out of the sides the landscape was absolutely beautiful, the big blue sky, the piney green trees, and the sparkling water. I was very upset when we had to go back down, I didn't want to be torn away from the beautiful land. Climbing down the tremendous tower was even a bit scarier than climbing up it. I felt like I was going to stumble and fall with each step that I took. Finally when I got to the last flight of stairs our class looked like normal sized people, not ants! As soon as I reached the ground relief flushed over me. I had done it, I had climbed the fire tower!

One of my favorite things that we have done so far this year was making apple crisp. I was very excited to make apple crisp because that's not something that our family does that often. When we got to the kitchen, we all washed our hands while Lillah's mom, Mara, told us some of the jobs that we could do. All of the jobs sounded fun, but Lillah and I claimed the job of making the topping. We poured in some butter, sugar, and flour and started mixing it all together. We mixed everything in for a long time because the butter wasn't very soft and because if we mixed the topping long enough, our hands would be coated in the delicious mixture. Once we were done, we had gained another layer of sugary skin. The topping tasted like heaven on our tongues, and the apple crisp we made tasted even better!

One of my favorite things so far about the year was going to Mille kathio sate park, and climbing the towering tower of terror. That experience will haunt my dreams forever. Climbing it was one heck of a fright, but as you got up there, you felt like a extended giraffe. Even though I was scared out of my mind, the view was breath taking. As soon as we got up there, it was time to go. Back down those WOODEN stairsI went, every step I took took a year out of my life. Step by step I went, afraid that the whole thing was going to crumble( with me in it!). Thankfully I was on the ground, looking up, I felt as if I accompished something that I could never do. But still that was one of my best/scariest moments of my time here at SJP.

One of my favorite things we did this year so far was.............. the camping trip, or to narrow it down the capture the flag game. The teams were picked by Mitchell and, Hmmm the name of the other kid slips my mind. My team, or team pink hid ours' in a pile of leafs leaving only a small tip out. We left no gaurds to warn the other team. So darkness was our main defence. Our jail was in the no mans land, or the middle in other words. I raced along the lon dark back road by the bathrooms. Suddenly Cormac seemed to melt out of a tree and escort me to the jail. When I got out of jail I went back the dark road again. They probally thought I was smart enough to stay away so there was no guards. I guess this just shows I'm stubborn. This time I got in I was searching a bush when a snap reaches my ears. I look up but its only Ryan who is on my team. We found the other flar behind a tent and in a tall bush. I raced back down the back road. I got to my side and screamed on the top of my lungs that we had won.then when we herded up all of the other kids we went on to the campfire. Which is another story though.

My favorite thing we did this year so far was going camping in Mille Lacs Kathio State Park.my favorite thing that i did around camp was skipping rocks. I really liked it when the rocks skidded to a stop.what i did not like was when everyone crowded around and started making comments.my second thing that I liked at camp was playing in the woods with Ryan.when we were in the woods we discovered a small fort by the cars.then we went and started adding thicker walls.then we went back into the woods and started pulling down dead trees.that was my favorite feild trip this year.

ONE of my favorite things we did so far this year was probably the bike trip. I really had fun biking on the trail, and it was a beautiful day for it! I was nervous at first beacuase I had never really biked that far before, and I was also on a new and unfamiliar bike. I was thinking "I'm probably going to get left behind and be really far behind everyone." But after we pushed of from school i started to get the hang of it. I was having a great time pedaling passed the tall maple trees and talking with my friends. When we got to the foot bridge I got a little nervous because who in the world wants to ride over a busy highway on a BIKE? Thats what I wanted to know! I peddaled up the little hill leading to the foot path and told myself over and over again "dont look down, dont look down." And I didn't! And I made it! I survived and conquered the footpath! Haha, nothing could stop me! Hahahahaha! Nothing, of course, but a long path, an empty stomach, and the hot sun beating down on my back. Oh my Stache was I happy when we got to the picnic area! I claimed my place and sat down. The first thing I did was chug my water. Little voices went of in my head "halleluja, halleluja!" Then I ate lunch and practiced my olympic medal routine. Then I noticed some of the guys playing frisbee and I thought it would be fun to join. I had a great time playing, and I thinks its safe to say that, using my super powers, I made it back to school without dying of heat exausition! An awesome apple crisp with ice cream was the perfect reward!

My favorite thing we did this year was the camping trip. I enjoyed so much of the camping trip that I can't choose just one part to write about. But I will anyway. My favorite part of the camping trip was playing capture the flag in the dark. Part of the reason why this was so fun is because a lot of people thought that wearing a head lamp or using a flash would give them an advantage. It did exactly the opposite. I was mainly guarding my team's flag, and the lights really helped me out. Anyone who was using one could be seen from a mile away, even by a mole (moles are blind, by the way). Then I really found out why people were using the lights. Whenever I would try to tag someone wearing a light, they would flip the light on it's brightest setting and shine it right in my face. After this kept happening, I decided to ditch my guard job and go for the other team's flag. As soon as I leave my side of the field, I hear Will yell, "I got the flag!" and come running over to his side, winning the game. I didn't really mind losing though, because that was the best capture the flag game I've ever played.

One of my favorite things to do this year was hmm..let's see.. got it, climbing the fire tower at Kathio State Park. When I started I thought it was no big deal about halfway through I started to feel sick (just ate 5 muffins by the way),at the top I admired the beutiful view. Going down was so hard I was afraid I was going to topple down the steps instead of walking down steps I didn't stop silenly panicking until I touched the final step and hit solid ground. When I still look back on it I knew I had accomplished something I would probably have never done if I hadn't gone to sjp

My favorite thing we did so far was the bike trip. It was a great day to go biking. The leaves were gorgeous, yellow, orange, and red. As we sped by the colorful trees, I noticed a bridge up ahead. As we got closer, I saw it was a bridge that went over a highway! I thought "How will I make it over this bridge?" Little by little I rode across. I could hear the rush of cars under me. I felt a sense of accomplishment when I made it across. We rode to the spot where we were going to have the picnic and it felt good to sit in the shade after biking in the sun. After lunch, I played volleyball with my friends. Too soon, it was time to go back to SJP. I had a great time on the bike trip.

In my memory one happening protrudes from my mind, when we picked our spots. It was a crisp sunny autum day the leaves crunchy kernals of popcorn. We crossed over the line of scilence, Mrs. Anderson told us the bounderies and we were off. The search had begun. I had already seen a giant tree toppled over like a discarded tooothpick. the roots were up high and there was a vally beneath the outcropping of roots. I saw a stairway of roots and climed up to the top. It was perfect, there was a couple of roots comming out of the top to hold my book if I needed a rest from writing and a spot for my pencil, feet and camera to! I settled in and started writing. There was so much to write about, the grand pines that towered over me, or the ... The DEER that just ran and sprang majestically out of nowhere! I grabbed my pencile and starter to write. about 10 minutes later I heard the whistle and went down the root stairs and past the line of scilence.

HI there, my favorite time was when we went to the art gallery on October, 25, 2012. We saw all types of art from the great Julio or sopiha's grand father. It was relly interesting to listen to what he had to say. At the art gallery there was this one landscaping picture and oh my gosh it was the most beautiful panting I have ever seen in my life!!!! There were all these lines and dabes of the brush, strokes of different colors mixed to gether, and the most detailed painting of the landscape the human eye can see. That is when I went to the art gathery. :)

One of my favorite things we did so far was probably make vegetable soup. My group and I went down to the middle school kitchen. We all took turns doing everything. First I started slicing big, red, juicy tomatoes. Next Lilla and I cut onions. Tears streamed from our faces, as the cruel onions took their toll.I fought back, kept on slicing while wiping my face. After a brief, blurry battle, the onions were sliced, and I was victorious. After that, I headed over to chop basil. It had a fresh, sharp smell to it. Then I gathered up the ingredients into a large, blue bowl, and, after grabbing a wooden spoon, slowly scooped the ingredients into a metal pot, being careful not to slosh the HOT water on me. From that event, I learned how to slice vegtables WITHOUT slicing yourself ! I loved making vegetable soup!

My favorite field trip was the camping trip. I liked playing capture the flag the most, and going to dairy queen. I think camping is the funest thing to do in the summer. I also enjoyed the geo cashing, the fire tower, the nature walk, singing songs around the camp fire, and playing tag at the little park. It really made some good friends to super good friends like me and Isaac. We got to go to a gift shop, but my money was locked safely in the car so I cant get any thing at all.

My favorite part of 6th grade so far was biking back from the Wobegon trail. I was biking with my friend Ana the whole time. One the way back my bikes brakes broke! My wheel also started to spin way faster than the other wheel. Finally my bike got too hard to petal up hill. When we got to the bridge I just could not get going so Ana lent me her bike and we started to get going. I started to feel bad for Ana who was using my bike and traded back.We were laghing about it for days! That was my biking trip. THE END

my favorite thing we have done this year was getting to go to the beach. I had a lot of fun, and I think so did everyone else. I loved swimming out to the raft and jumping off with all my friends, and jumping off the end of the dock too. one time when we went to the beach, me and two of my friends had forgotten our swim suits. We walked around in the water a little bit, When we were splashed by someone and got a little wet, so it started up a splash fight and before we knew it, we were all dreached. It may not have been the smartest thing possible, but we still always had fun at the beach.

What kid doesn't like water and the beach! There is something about the lure of water that makes people want to play and splash in it even knowing that getting one's clothes soaked is not the best idea. It is especially true if the clothes have to be worn for the rest of day. Sitting in damp clothing must have made you feel like a duck! How ducky! Next time, don't forget your swimming suit and towel.

When we were on the camping trip, we played capture the flag. My team hid our flag really well. It was bright pink, which of course made it hard to hide well in the woods, but we hid it in a clump of grass just barely visible through the weeds, exactly like it was supposed to be. Once it got dark, we turned on our flashlights and headlamps. Whenever I was on the other teams territory, and I had no hope of escaping, I would quickly cover my bright headlamp. Surprised, the opponent would hastily turn on their light, but it would be too late. I would already be too faraway to catch. I didn't get caught once. In the end, my team won. It was really fun.

My favorite thing this year has to be singing songs by the campfire on the camping trip. My favorite song was the Second Story Window. In this song we sing any Mother Goose nursery rhyme and it always ends with out the window. For the other song we split up to three different groups. Each group got a different song and then we sang them all at the same time. It sounded really cool with all three songs at the same time. Mrs. Anderson played guitar for all the songs (she was really good). At the beginning most of us were cold from the chilly night air and the game of capture the flag we played before, but we were all warm now because the bright fire warmed us up. When we were all done singing we all got smores thanks to the volunteers who helped us many times during the trip. I wonder what the coyotes thought of our singing? I think they must have liked it because we could hear them trying to imitate us later that night.

My favorite thing this year is probably swimming at the beach. We were having fun splashing in the the water while we waited for the lifeguard .Anya,Katie Murtha, and Katie J did not bring swimsuits, but they still went in the water! When Anya went in the water her dress turned red and it was supposed to be pink! We ended up sitting on the beach for 20 minutes and the lifeguard was still not there! Finally the lifeguard that was on the next shift came early. The lifeguard that was supposed to be there never showed up! As soon as the lifeguard showed up we all jumped in the water and me, a sixth grader was stuggling to breath, because all the people were trying to get up on the raft! What happend next? Thunder and lightning were coming out of the sky! We had to leave because we did not want to get shocked! We did not have the best swimming day ever, but everybody still had a splash of fun!

My favorite thing that we have done so far this year was go swimming. I had sooooooooooooo much fun hanging out with my friends. It was fun to swim out to the raft and jump off. It was also nice to lay on the beach and talk to my friends. It sure was nice to get wet on a hot day. We tried to go swimming a second time but the lifegard didnt show up till it was almost time to go. I figured there was no point in getting wet if we had only a few minutes. We had to leave the beach early anyway because of thunder.Even though I didnt go swimming, I still had fun Comments are closed.
