It was an awesome day at school today! Well, we really weren't at school for much of the day. The field trip up north was wonderful. Please send in your comments on the field trip.

When we got to Mile Lac Indian museum we started a scavenger hunt. After that we went in the 4 seasons room and by the way ever thing looked so real. There was even maple sap driping out of a maple tree. We made dream catchers an then we went to DQ. DQ was the best part of the day but the food was expensive. We went to Kathio and we got to stand in a real dakota village!! THen the endless trip home began and I was tired.

Going up the fire tower was amazing! I was able to see all the lakes and trees in the area, the colors were beautiful. It was so cool to stand where a Dakota village actually was! The story he told us about Duluth and Hennepin were great. I'm glad we studied them a little bit before we went. The four seasons room in the museum felt so real. I could really tell was life was like for them. DQ was really yummy too. :) :) :) Best field trip ever!

The Kathio state park was so much fun! When we were on the fire tower we literally towered over everything! It was Awesome (although coming down from the tower was a little bit freaky). Another cool thing we did at the Kathio state park was listen to our tour guide tell us stories about all different kinds of interesting stuff. I couldn't believe we were actually standing where a Dakota village used to be! It was so cool to know that families used to live where we were standing. When we were at the museum we went into the four seasons room. In the room our guide told us about the indians' life during the different seasons.

The fire tower was both awesome and terrifying. As I was going up it got better once I got above tree level, but it was windier which made it pretty scary too. The view was great at the top! Right below us there was a tree tree with golden leaves that had purple along the edges. I've never seen a tree that looked like that before! Coming down was even scarier than going up. My legs were still shaking by the time I reached the cars. I'm excited to see Kyra's video on youtube!

The trip to Mille Lacs was AWESOME!! We first got to go through the Mille Lacs Indian museum and learned alot about the Ojibwe. Then we went to Kathio State park and got to stand where a Dakota village used to be. Finally, we climbed up the fire tower that was over 100 feet tall. They used it to spot fires in the forest. It was kind of creepy but the view from the top was amazing

Yesterday was AWESOME!!! First we went to the Indian Mille Lacs Museum, we did a scavenger hunt (looked for answers in the museum)and we went into the four seasons room which was really "alive" with sound effects and the surrounding wall (which was painted with an airbrush)make me feel like it was real. Then we went to DQ which was like the best with a little playground that was fun to play in.After everyone was done with their ice cream, yum!, we went to the Kathio State Park. The parkranger told us all about Louis Hennipen and about King Louis the 14 and history, you know. But the really cool part was that we actually stood in a Dakota village!! There was also a scary part, too.We went to the firetower which was shaking because of the wind, wooooh. While one group climbed the other ate twizlers, pretzels, and apples. The way back was still fun, maybe because I was with my friends?Anyway, that trip was the funnest trip ever!!!:):):):)YAH!!!!

In the museum we learned alot of things. I really liked the four seasons we got to see how they moved through the seasons. Also my favorite part was learning about the 6 holes in the flut. I'll try to remember what they were, bad spirit, feathered friends, human beings, all the fish. That's all that I can remember. It waa really neat that you could see the palisade walls of the village. He let us see the two rings representing God. That story the ranger guys told us was really cool. Climbing the fire tower was so scary because it was shacking. Dairy queen was SWEET!

The trip was cool and fun even if we did not go camping. My favorite part was climbing the fire tower steps and looking down on the trees. The trees were all different color like red, dark red, yellow, light yellow, and orange.

Hello! This was the BEST field trip I have ever had in my entire life! I like the flute question at the museum. The holes represented underwater, nature, bad spirit, human, feathered friends, and great spirit. One of my favorite stories was the one of the Fleur-de-lis. I loved the fire tower.

Wow! Your field trip sounds like it was simply amazing. The look from the fire tower must have been breath taking, no pun intended, and the history stories exciting.

When our class went to Kathio state park we went and saw burial mounds of the indians. It was historic. We were standing on a Ojibwe village. Then we went to a fire tower. It was so high we could see Grand Casino. The park ranger said that we were 200 ft high from the village.

I am so glad I was able to go with your class on the field trip. I learned a lot about the Ojibwe Indians too. I thought you were very respectful to the Park Rangers as they shared a lot of information with us. Nice job 6th graders!!

The field trip was AWESOME!!!!!!! First we went to the Mille Lacs museum. I learned a lot about Native American heritage. The four seasons room was really realistic. Making dream catchers was fun to. Then we went to DQ. That was OK, but I think other people enjoyed it more than I did. Next, we went to Kathio state park. Comments are closed.
