Today is one of my favorite activities of the school year. Today is the day you get to think of your Top Ten Sixth Grade events. Please think back over the whole year and think about the things you enjoyed the most. Start with number 10 and work your way back to number 1. Number 1 should be your favorite thing that we did all year!!!! Have fun.
Hey 6th graders. I haven't used the blog assignment yet this year. I think it is about time to have use our blog. Here it is: We have finished ourThe Good Path book in theology this week. I hope you enjoyed learning about the beautiful values of the Ojibwe people. Here's your blog assignment for next week. You need to select one of the 9 core values of the Ojibwe people. It should be the value that you think is the most important value in your life. You need to write a paragraph that does the following:
1. Tell what the value you is and state what it meant to the Ojibwe people. 2. Give an example of how the Ojibwe lived this value. 3. Tell what it means to you, and give one or two examples of how you will live this value out in your life. This is, of course, organized as a PARAGRAPH. Remember to include a topic sentence and a closing sentence. Please complete this blog assignment by Friday, January 23rd. This is worth 15 theology points. Following the directions carefully and remember what makes a good paragraph! Ok Sixth Graders, We are nearing the end of a great school year. Today I want you to think back over all of the many things we've done from making soup, to swimming in Lake Sagatagan, to our many field trips. Pick your top ten favorite things. Start with #10 and work backwards to #1. #1 should be your very favorite thing about sixth grade!
The sixth graders enjoyed a morning trip to the Sugar Shack. See their comments on what they learned about the process of maple syrup making.
Hey sixth graders, we just had a wonderful interim week. We did a lot of different things. We spent time snowshoeing, cross country skiing, building fires, land navigating through the deep, snowy forest, drilling holes in the ice, learning about wolves, and of course, our reader's theater tour. For your blog assignment, I want you to choose one small part of our week and write a terrific narrative paragraph about the event. Start with a good topic sentence. Include lots of details that use good verbs. Don't forget to end with a concluding sentence that just fits this paragraph. I have created a new rubric for this assignment. It is posted on Schoology. This assignment is due on Feb. 19. Impress me with your writing skills. ( Be one of the first five to complete this assignment and receive a special award!) Hey 6th graders. You know it is just like me to spoil a great day with an assignment, but I just have to do it!!! Halloween was fun today. You got to do a lot of unique things at school. You got to make pumpkin pie, study in the boys' dorm, carve pumpkins, wear costumes AND go trick or treating in school AND go on a cool field trip to the arboretum. Just like last time, select ONE part of today and write about it. You did such an awesome job writing last time that I can't wait to see this blogs' comments. Remember all we are learning in writer's workshop. There's show not tell writing and literary techniques. Since it is a holiday, I won't be quite as demanding as last time. I think about 8 sentences would be enough. However, if you want to write more, please do. Remember pick one small thing we did and tell me lots about it. This is not due for an entire week ( and two weekends). Blogs must be finished by Monday, November 12. Thanks 6th graders. I promise we will take a break after this. Happy Halloween and happy writing. Impress me just li Hey 6th Graders,
I haven't had you do any blogging yet this year. I think it is definitely time for our first blog assignment. Here it is: Please select one thing that we have done so far this year in 6th grade and write about it! Remember to think about how you select an IDEA for writing. I know you all loved the camping trip, but writing about the whole trip would be "grocery list" writing. Maybe, you would write about setting up your tent OR climbing the fire tower. Pick something you enjoyed and really describe it for me! Your entry should be very detailed. Think about writing at around 10 good sentences. This blog is due on Friday, October 26th. Have fun. Do a great job! |
