Hey 6th graders. We finished our The Good Path book this week in social studies. I hope you enjoyed learning about the beautiful values of the Ojibwe people. Here's your blog assignment for next week. You need to select one of the 9 core values of the Ojibwe people. It should be the value that you think is the most important value to your life. Tell what the value you is, state what it meant to the Ojibwe people, give an example of how the Ojibwe lived this value, tell what it means to you, and give one or two examples of how you will live this value out in your life. This is, of course, organized as a PARAGRAPH. Please complete this blog assignment by next Thursday at the latest. It is worth 10 social studies points!

If you asked an ojibwe who was there king, they'd answer The Creator. For it was the Created them and without him they would be nothing. All the past cultures and Civilization have had some sort of Religon or God. A culture isn't a culture without a person/thing to worship. The Creator had a dream of the world and the Ojibwe want to make this dream come true. I think it is important to have a God so that you have someone to look to or Pray to whenever you need to.

The most important Ojibwe value to me is Be Peaceful. To me, I think the value Be Peaceful means to get along with everyone and to try not to get into a fight with anyone. To the Ojibwe, I believe that they think this value means to get along with other tribes of clans. They acted out this value when they were on thier journey that was prophecied by one of the seven fires. On this journey they traveled with other tribes and so they learned to Be Peaceful while they traveled. I try to live out this value by getting along with people I don't like particularly, and by treating people the way you would want to be treated. The Ojibwe values can be followed by anyone who's willing to take a chance.

I chose Honor our Elders and this is why. I liked Honor Our Elders because older people need more help so they don't get hurt.I could go to a nursing home and help elders. I could also give them company because they might be lonly. And thats why I chose Honor Our Elders.

The Ojibwe values are very important to me. Being kind is my favorite value. Being kind means to always respect and to be nice to others. One way they show this value is to be kind to everyone, even if they are not kind to you. This value is so importaant to me because if everyone followed this value no one would be in jail or prison. I can live this value by always being nice to other people even if they hurt my feallings. Another way I can show this value is to always listen and be respectful. That is how I can live the Ojibwe's value of being kind to everyone.

The value of being kind to everyone is an inspirational value to me. The value means to the Ojibwe that all shall be treated with respect. This value is modeled in the Ojibwe by greeting everyone with a warm welcome and inviting them into their home. This value means to me that everyone should be respected for whoever they are or whatever they do. I will live this value by respecting every one from the rich to the poor. This value is very important to me and I will always try to obey and follow it.

One of the Ojibwe 9 core values is " BE KIND TO EVVERYONE". To the Ojibwe this value had a great meaning. This value was a very big part of their lives. It meant treating people the way you want to be treated, as we say. It meant those very words " BE KIND TO EVERYONE",and it meant EVERYONE.The Ojibwe people lived this value, as I said before, by being kind to everyone, helping each other, and teaching each other. In other words these people lived this value by being there for one another. For example, an Ojibwe got injured either physically or emotionaly, another Ojibwe would see them and come to their side, not just leave them and go on with their daily life. This value means the same to me as it does to the Ojibwe. It means being there for one another, being kind to everyone. I will live this value by thinking of others and caring for them, I WILL be kind to everyone , at least I'll try to be kind with EVVERYONE.

One of the nine Ojibwe core values is Honor the Creator. To the Ojibwe, it meant always giving back and giving thanks to the Creator. As an example, when they hunted buffalo or bison, they used every part of the body. To me it means giving back and giving thanks (just as the Ojibwe did) to the religion you belong to. One way I live it out is by everyday stopping and observing what God brought to this world. Another way is showing respect and kindness to the Earth. The way the Ojibwe lived the value, is how I live out the value.

Be Peaceful meant a couple of things to the Ojibwe. First of all the Ojibwe thought that everybody should follow this value. It might stop wars, and fights and over all make the world a better place. when the Ojibwe followed the prophets, they met very unfriendly groups, they tried to stop these groups from fighting by talking to them. Sometime it worked, sometimes it didn't. I think this value is one that should always be used. To me it means peace. I will live this value out by trying to be nice to everyone even if I don't like them. I hope to see other people thrying to do the value and spreading the peace to others.

Honor Our Elder Brothers: This is a value where the Ojibwe respect nature and animals. They live this by using all animals bones. They replant trees. This is important because back then the animals moved from the Ojibwe. The animals did this because they did not use all of the animal. This is important to me because it taught me to respect nature and not chop down trees( as much). This is one of my favorite Ojibwe values.

To me the most important value is honor our elder brothers. To the Ojibwe this means to be aware of plants and animals role in nature, and to respect them.

I think it is important to Be Kind to Everyone. The Ojibwe show this by not always being to kind to the Dakota but by being hospitable and kind to other Ojibwe families. One example is when Omakayas's family takes in little orphan kids. I'm not always nice to my brother but I still think Being Kind to Every is important.

One of my favorite values is "Be Moderate in Our Thoughts, Words, and Actions. This value to the Ojibwe means to only use what you need to use and not much else. Many Ojibwe broke this value during the Fur Trade of 1659- early 1800's. They kept hunting too many extra animals, taking the furs and getting rid of the meat. One of the stories that the elders tell is how once, they kept overhunting the animals. One day, all the animals were just gone. The Ojibwe asked an owl why and the owl said, "You did not hunt in moderation and took too many, so that is why the animals left." The Ojibwe were ruled by the fur trade and overhunted until the early 1800's. I think this value is very important because we should just use what we need and then everyone could have enough.

I think an important Ojibwe value is to Honor Our Elder Brothers. It is good to honor our elder brothers and to help the environment. Plus we need to keep some endangered plants and animals safe from danger and when we do, we honor our elder brothers. The Ojibwe honor our elder brothers by always using every bit of the animals they killed. It is important to them because they knew that helping animals and nature was important and it was a big part of their culture too. I think that one of the most important Ojibwe values is to Honor Our

There are nine Ojibwe value and my favorite is Honor are elder brothers. honor are elder brothers means to respect animals and when you go hunt nothing is wastedand they respect the animals. The Ojibwe flowed this by whenever they went hunting of fishing the would use all the meat and some of the bones but whatever they don't use they return to there habitat. This value means to me that we should respect and not waste the meat that we hunted the creature for. I could live ths value by when I go hunting I will try my hardest to use every thing of the animal and bary the remains in the forest. The Ojibwe were very wise peaple and had many value other than this one.

There are many core values in the ojibwe world. Be kind to everyone is what I think to be the most important value. It tells to be kind to every one even if they aren't kind to you. one example: the native americans were very kind to the town of James town. I always wondered what the world would be like if there was no kindness. But to tell you the truth I don't want to find out.

I think it is important to Be Kind to Everyone. It means being there for one another, being kind to everyone. I will live this value by thinking of others and doing what I do best, making them laugh. To be kind to everyone is something that is hard to accomplish and i think that someday it won't if we all try what the Ojibwe did. Comments are closed.
