OK., 6th graders most of you got in the groove and reported in on your first official week of History Day progress. Thank you for getting off on a good start. This week I put some specific tasks on your History Day homework page. Remember that you need to be doing something for history day each night. I know it is tough with vacation so close, but if we wait until after vacation, we will run out of time. On Wednesday this week, you need to let me know what you've done on Monday and Tuesday. Again, the more specific you are, the greater chance you will have of getting that 3 point entry. If you didn't do anything last week, I've left those tasks up so you can go back and get caught up during the break.

On monday I did history day only at school. I learned all about the first act that Kathleen Blatz did. She opened the rooms where abused children would tell how they were abused to the public. Although one of her fellow justices doubted that it would work, it did it was a definitely a success. On tuesday I did history day at home,I learned about what Kathleen did before and after Minnesota Supreme Court. After 8 terms in court she is volunteering at the blue cross blue shield she applied at the same time as a famous person who worked at a bank I can't remember his name though. This is what I did for history day on Monday and on Tuesday.

This week I read about what my exhibit will look like and how I can make it look good and still get lots of information in there. I also looked around ELM a bit but I couldn't find much so I went to the Saint. Cloud Public Library website but I didn't find much there either. I think it is because my topic is not as well known and that is why there is not as much on it. Are there any other websites I could use?

On Monday, I came to the website and read a bunch about the rules and ways to make either a performance or exhibit board look as best as it can be. I also went to the Sterns History Museum and got a TON of information about Jacob Wetterling's Abduction. I hope to go back there during break along with Lizzy so we can get even more info. and take more notes. On Tuesday I also came to the website and looked at a few of the example projects to see what mine could possibly look like. That is what I did this week to make progress on my History Day project.

This week I did the homework for Monday and Tuesday. I tried to explain to my parents how we need to take notes for History Day, as well as looking up information for my topic. I couldn't find very many things for the boundary waters treaty, but when I typed in the boundary waters wilderness act, a lot mare websites popped up.

I found two great books from GRRL and am reading them right now. They discribe what happened before the lighthouse and what the process was to getting the grant for the lighthouse. I have looked at both websites and documentaries for i am still not sure yet. I have looked up some newspaper articles but I can not get them to open up so I can read them. I will have my dad try to help me with this this weekend.

This week I read and read about all of the things that are needed to create a performence or an exhibit board. I also worked on the little packet given to us this week. I have done part of it but I am waiting to see if there is anything that I would like to add after Lillah and I work on it over break. I am still looking at backround info to get as comfortable with my topic as possible.

Yesterday I finished reading a book that was named The Great Hinckley Fire . I found out that no one really knows how the fire but one person thought it was a passing train that lighted a spark. I also got a video and looked at a website.
