We have a busy week a head of us. We'll be making weather instruments in science and heading to the history museum in St. Paul. We will also visit the Minnesota State Capitol building. On Thursday, Sarah from the St. John's Arboretum will be starting a terrific science unit with us. On Friday we are going to sell ice cream floats for only $1.00! Today in sience we made a weather vain. It consisted of a notecard, stick pin, straw, and a pencil. Step 1: cut the straw in a 1 inch slit and on the other side a 2 inch slit parellel to the first slit. Step 2: trace a quarter and make a triangle. Cut the circle and the triangle out and stick them inside the straw. The circle should be in the biggest slit. Step 3: Take the pin and insert it through the straw into the pencil eraser. Step 4: Test your instrument in the wind and we will do that later on in the year. Making this tool is not hard and I am looking forward to find them out.

Today at recess we played soccer. Every person was having fun. In soccer we played hard and long. Up and down the court we ran, trying to get the soccer ball into the opposing teams goal. Even though my team did not win we still had a fun time playing soccer!

Science was the most interesting subject of the day. We learned to make a couple of science instruments for the weather. Normally we would just write down facts and read from our book . Today we actually were able to make something instead of read about it. Making the instruments was very fun, cleaning up the mess, isn't as much fun. The amazing part is we were able to turn what was in the book into reality! Hands on experiments are always fun!

Today at the history museum we did a lot of awsome things. At the history museum, we went to an exibite called "Open house". We lifted a block of ice, it was kind of heavey. We sat on a bed and it droped down. It said that the bed creaked, and it did! Our day was the best day ever at the history museum!!!

The decorations in the capital were FANTASIC. There were little gophers on the railings along with a M hidden in the framework. We learned that the big pillars made from Minnesota granite were not supporters they were just for looks! Every governor had a huge picture of himself with a gold plated name badge. The view from the top of the capital was amazing.

A Jesse Tree is an important thing to show what happened before our Savior came. The Jesse Tree shows a picture about a person/people such as Adam and Eve. Their symbol is a serpent coiled around an apple. That symbol is when Adam and Eve ate the fruit that the serpent told them to eat which was against God's wishes. The Jessie Tree has been around for ages upon ages giving bits and pieces of people who came before our Lords son.

Today at SJP we did proportions. It was supercalifragilistiexpealodocious! Proportions are amazingly easey! It is mainly just fractions and seeing if they are equal. First you cross multiply. Next you find the variable. Proportions are simple but if you think fractions are easy, you will get proportions! We can use our calculator. That makes it alot easier to cross multiply! Seven problems takes you about four minutes. Even though they look hard they are easy. We have been working on them for one day now and I hope we do them again tomorrow!!!

In social we are doing a project that we make websites. What we do is in our groups we read our chapters and figure out what we sould write about. What we have to put down for out web pages are vocab, meet a minnestotan, major concepts, fast facts, and review blog. This is very intresting because we learn about a chapter and other groups do too. We can go to their web sites and look what their chapter is about. I hope that when all of us get finished you can look at the web sites too.

In school, we are reading a book called the Porcupine Year.It is a very good book and it is nice because we know all the characters from our past books. It is about the Ojibwe and how they are getting pushed out of there land by the white men, chimookoman, and is being told by a girl our age.I really like this book and can't wait to figure out the ending!!

Today in gym we went sleding and let me tell you it was amazinly awsome. first the snow was real icy so it was really fast. And there was a jump and it was BIG. If you have a fast sled it is really fun and the slower ones wern't as fun. Not alot of people went off the jump but i did. I think gym was really fun

What a day. I had a lot of fun at the History Museum. We all went to a class. In the class we learned about immigrants. A person from each group found something in a suitcase from different countries. We read a little passage from a packet that tells something about the object. We told something about it to the other groups. I hope I can back to the museum and explore more.

What another fun day. At recess we went sledding. It was cold, but fun. We all had a sled. Some of us went together on a sled. There were 2 hard jumps which was a blast. We will do that again because winter in Minnesota just started.

In science we made tools for wind speeds, wind directions, and air pressure on Monday. Today we went on the soccer field below the school and tried them all. We graphed them in our sciences blogs. Most of them were wrong and few right. We will be doing them for the next 5 days. I hope most of the tools are accurate.

Today was a very nice day because we sold root beer floats! It was AWESOME! Every one got a shift but lucky for me in my shift only a few customers came so I just missed 20 minutes of my world language class(german)just to stand around and drink soda with my fellow class-mates!Anyway in science we also recorded our data on our graphs by going outside. After that we entered the forest to write about our spots. Animal tracks swerved and curved all along the paths. But the best or second best thing was sledding. BOOM! I sled on my bottom sometimes because of the impact of force on the sled because of how steep both of the hills that I sled on were. I also accomplished a lot of typing in my social studies group, so I felt goog as an over-acheiver! Anyway, this was a cool day if you get what I mean!

On Tuesday we went to the History Museum and the State Capitol Building. The History Museum was my favorite, even though I had been there many times before, because of all the cool exhibits. My favorite was the MN 150. Our group all went in the van and had a wild ride! Then we did the trivia. Cerys did as well as we did. I can't wait to go back.

I admittoday sledding in gym was wicked. Sometimes it was a dull ride but others a nightmare! My favorite time was when my sled began going down the hill with a bunch of girls on it. I could not resist running after it and jumping in the middle! I also really liked when Gwyneth and I went down the hill and in to a snow drit. She told me she thought she was dead and I just had a good chuckel. Now you can see why sledding was the best today.

The sleding that we do durring phyed is so much fun! We never did that at my old school. We barly went outside at all. The only time we went outside is for track, baseball, the mile and soccer sometimes. I had to use a snow-bord as a sled today. Only because there were no more sleds. I sleded on it by laying on my stomache. Though that probly wasn't the best sleding position because when I hit a jump the foot holder jammed into my stomache. I had to lay there a while because it hurt so much, or it felt like I had had the wind knocked out of me. I have a bruise about as big as a business card on my leg. It has a red line in it from the impact of the plastic. I didn't notice it until I leaned on it outside. It really hurt! But other than that cold wipe out, phyed was really fun and I can't wait until next time.

Selling root beer and orange floats was so much fun! They were really yummy too! It seemed that the school would come in groups, and after about 20 people came, nobody would come! And it continued my whole shift..... The only bad part of all of it, was that the people in the first shift didn't get to go sledding because we had to eat lunch. We raised about $130, which I hope will make a lot of kids happy.

My lunch today was a luscious treat. I had beans that my Dad made this week. It felt like a piece of heaven sliding down my throat and into my belly. Before I ate my Santa cookie I looked at its beard made of soft coconut and its little hat made of speaks of red sugar clinging on the almond flavored cookie. Suddenly I could not bare it any more and took a big bite of his head leaving only his beard. In my eyes I could eat this meal forever and ever until the end of the world.

i couldn't wait to see all the rooms in the muesum and ended up liking the one where we actauly got to experience a real tornado and listen to how terrible it was in the old days when 3 tornadoes hit the ground. that sounds truly terrifing don't you think because that is exactly how i felt listening to the peoples descriptions. If i was ever in this situation i would never ever would want to stay their ever again i would move across the world where a storm rarely ever hits. The chocolate muesum was pretty sweet to and going in that house where that bed wet up and down once really fast that was really fun. Comments are closed.
