Hey 6th graders,
You know it is just like me to spoil a great day with an assignment, but I just have to do it!!! Halloween was fun today. You got to do a lot of unique things at school. You got to make pumpkin pie, study in the boys' dorm, carve pumpkins, wear costumes AND go trick or treating in school AND go on a cool field trip to the arboretum. Just like last time, select ONE part of today and write about it. You did such an awesome job writing last time that I can't wait to see this blogs' comments. Remember all we are learning in writer's workshop. There's show not tell writing and literary techniques. Since it is a holiday, I won't be quite as demanding as last time. I think about 8 sentences would be enough. However, if you want to write more, please do. Remember pick one small thing we did and tell me lots about it. This is not due for an entire week ( and two weekends). Blogs must be finished by Monday, November 12. Thanks 6th graders. I promise we will take a break after this. Happy Halloween and happy writing. Impress me just li

Most people like to roll the dice, I like to wear it. My favorite thing on the Halloween was getting to wear our costumes to school. It was fun to see how everyone expressed their Halloween spirit and how they enjoyed it. My dice costume was very large and sat clumsily on my shoulders. The black and white pattern painted on my face, with the help of the other other Katie M, gave me the full effect of being a dice. Everybody who wore a custome did a really cool job and we all definaltily had fun getting to wear our Halloween awesomeness.

I absolutely loved carving pumpkins on Halloween at school. My pumpkin was big and round and had lots and lots of guts in it. Ms. Fabres first helped me get the top off so I could pull out all of the goopy guts and the white seeds. Then I got to start carving. I decided to do a basic smiley face and I did the triangular eyes first. I love the sound of the carver going in and out of the pumpkins orange juicy flesh. The eyes turned out to be two different sizes but they were still cute! Finally I carved the mouth he was smiling and had one big buck tooth. When I was all finished I wrote my name on a card and carried my pumpkin out into the hallway. This way a very fun experience for me because I have never gotten to carve a pumpkin at school.

One of my favorite things that we did on halloween was carving pumpkins. I absolutely love carving pumpkins and I had a great time getting to do it with my friends . I had the most perfect pumkin ever! It was round a very bright orange! Mrs. Fabres helped me take the top of and I looked inside the dark hole. All I saw was orange gooey strings hanging from the walls of the pumpkin and small white seeds sitting lazily at the bottom. I rolled up mt sleeve ( not my best idea to wear a black shirt to pumpkin carving) slowly I started to put my hand in. At first I was like "omg GROSS!" but after a while it was just a dross, runny, orang run, gooey substance running through mt fingers ( ok, not the best way to make it sound appealing ) I gutted my pumpkin and got to work on the face. It took me a minute to think of an idea but when i figured it out I got straight to work. Slowley i started making the eyes, than the nose, than the mouth, finally I put on the finishing touches. I turned it around and TA DAA! It was a mustache queen!I It was quite cool if I do say so myself! I loved looking at everyones pumkins when they were done! We all did a great job! I also learned an imprtant lesson, when carving pumkins, mustaches are always good accesories:{)

My favorite part ofthe day was mking the pumpkin pie and eating it. Cracking eggs, pouring sour milk, stirring pumpkin, whats not to love about it. And after the field trip it was the perfect reward. I made candy pumkin pie with whipp cream and sugar LOTS OF SUGAR. and after that everyone was suger hyped,so sugar hyped actully they were bouncing of the walls, literly. For some reason when I was eating pie some landed on my shoulders like someone THREW IT AT ME! That day was a lot of fun though and I had the best time

My favorite thing about Halloween was going trick or treating. My costume (Dave, an average American citizen that goes to work) got a lot of attention. People were asking me who I was, I was Dave people! Anyways it was fun going around to other people’s classrooms/offices to get candy (also to see who else dressed up for Halloween), my costume was pretty simple (comparing to some people who went all out for their costumes). So yeah, that was a pretty fun Halloween (except for the part it was on a Wednesday and I had to where that costume all day!).

My all time favorite thing that we did on Halloween was carving the pumpkins. As soon as I started carving I slowly became more and more excited. I dug my hand into the goopy mush getting a queasy feeling inside. I then noticed that the was a mold like substance in the pumpkin, luckly my mom had brought extra pumpkins. I quckly carved a brand new pumpkin and named it BILLY BOB!!!!!!

I liked the field trip the most. My partner was Riah. We took turns for using the compass or counting the paces. My favorite find was one of the small orange flag. our starting point was close, Riah took some paces but he didn't see a flag,so I headed over and looked around. After about five minutes I turned slowly and saw the flag on a tree. It was swaying softly like a leaf on a tree. I ran yellimg at Riah to follow me. We got that flag and started hunting more. At the end we had finished three of the riddles including the hardest one. Which is good if I may say so myself. ;)

My all-time favorite Halloween activity was definitely carving pumpkins. I always love creating a personality for every pumpkin I make. As soon as the lid was off of my pumpkin, I started to scrape away the stringy mess that was the inside of my pumpkin. By the time my pumpkin was hollow, there was orange gunk everywhere and a mountain of seeds right in the middle. I took the knife in my orange tinted hand and started to carve. I strategically stabbed the knife into the tough pumpkin skin and dragged it up and down, creating my pumpkin’s snaggle-tooth smile. The pumpkin smiled at me and I smiled at him as I dug in three more times forming his eyes and nose. I stood back, looked at my work, and realized what my pumpkin’s personality was. It was clear that this year my pumpkin was a crazy hobo. His crossed eyes and goofy grin helped him fit the part perfectly.

My favorite part was making pumpkin pie. At first the batter looked like creamed pumpkin. The pumpkin looked very gross. Then we added eggs and canned milk it started to look better. Then we started to add spices it started to look even better. Then we had to wait for the crust to finish. Then we poured the filling in the pan. Then we had to wait. When it was done we got to eat it. That was my favorite part of Halloween.

My favorite activity we did on Halloween day was when we went orienteering at the arboretum. We had to walk a certain amount of paces at a certain degrees and we would find a granite slab with a letter on it. Then we would stand on the granite slag and walk a new number of paces at a new degrees. We eventually made our way back to the start. We then had to use the letters to make an animal like a cricket or grey frog. We had groups of two and most groups finished it two or three times. It was easy because we could see most of the granite slags from where we were. It was hard because if we messed up we would have to go back a really long way.

My favorite part of Halloween was making pumpkin pie. I didn't really do much of anything. I mainly just a stick of butter in to pieces. The rest of the time was spent sitting there zoning out. I also talked to somebody, but I don't know exactly who it was (like I said, I was zoned out). It tasted really good after we made it though.

I have to say my favorite avtivity on Halloween was carving pumpkins. I have to say my dad and I seriously went to 15 different stores the night before Halloween.(Sound a lot like Christmas?) We finaly found a store with pumpkins, picked one up , and headed home. The next day I brought my pupmkin to school and eagerly awaited the pumpkin carving time. Finaly, the bell rang, and I hared to put my stuff away. I tore out my favorite design, a cat on a pumpkin, and waited for my pumpkin top to be cut off. One it was off I qickly gutted my pumpkin, and taped on my design. I then poked a hole in it and started carving. SWISH, SWISH, SWISH went the petite saw. Phew, I'm halfway done, just the pumpkin left to do. RRRRIIIINNNNGGGG goes the bell just as I finish the last eye on my pumpkin. Well, off to Spanish class!

My favorite part of the Halloween festivities at school would definitely be wearing our costumes to school. It was SO much fun! As I walked into the classroom,I gasped1! There was Lizzy, looking stylish dressed up as a ladybug. Then there was Elf, rocking the mermaid tail, and many more. I also loved that most people represented their favorite character or insect (like Lizzy). No one cared if their costume was odd, they didn't even think about being teased, only about how much fun it was to wear COSTUMES to school! I had a TON of fun wearing my princess Buttercup (from Princess Bride)costume with the long gown sweeping the floor. I think everyone felt like their character on Halloween, and had a lot of fun with it. I know I did.

My favorite thing we did at school was carving pumkins! I plopped my pumpkin down, cut out the top and let my dad gut it. Once that was done I started carving. My pumpkin was so strong that it bent my carving tool! I ended up carving a tradional pumpkin, but the mouth was a little bit too small. Hannah made a traditional pumpkin too. Katie made a really cool cat pumpkin .We all brought our pumpkins home and lit them. Everybody made really cool pumkins!

My favorite thing we did at school on Halloween was carve pumpkins. My pumpkin was very tall. It looked like someone had squished it on the sides. I started to carve my pumpkin. The guts felt so gooey and squishy like cold, slimy spaghetti. There were a lot of seeds in my pumpkin! They were very slippery like little chips of soap. I made my pumpkin look traditional. On Halloween night, I lit my pumpkin. It looked proud to be sitting on our doorstep shining bright.

My favorite part of Halloween was the costumes. I dressed up as Medusa. I braided my hair in to little braids, either 10 or 11. I wrapped pipe cleaners around the braids and made them stick out at weird angles. It looked pretty cool, but I think Anya's mermaid costume was better. So was Katie Murtha's dice costume. She reminded me of when Gwyneth dressed up as a wardrobe, and then a television. It was really fun.

My favorite thing was wearing my costume. Its fun to dress up and be weird at school. It was cool to see all the costumes everyone picked. It was fun being Clawdeen Wolf ( a fashionable werewolf from the moster high series) It was pretty interesting walking up and down stairs in high heels. it was funny to see elf the mermaid flop down the stairs like a fish. Even though Halloween was on a school day it was fun! Comments are closed.
