Well 6th graders, you just finished an awesome week of school at SJP. To refresh your memory, we saw a Chinese New Year presentation, the state capitol and the judicial building on Monday. On Tuesday, we performed reader's theatre scripts all at three area Catholic grade schools. Wednesday found us on the road to the science museum in St. Paul. Thursday was spent at Powder Ridge. Here's your blog assignment: Select ONE part of your week. Create a good piece of writing describing the part you select. Remember a beginning, middle and end! Possibly throw in some good show not tell writing or a literary technique or two. Remember to think small--maybe you'll write about meeting the Supreme Court justice, or flying down the hill for the first time at Powder Ridge. Maybe you want to tell your feelings on performing for a captive audience or watching the raquetball crack after being in the liquid nitrogen. You decide. The important thing is to really show off your writing skills. This is due by Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.
Hey 6th graders. It has been awhile since I've given you a blog assignment. I think it is about time to have another one! Here it is: We will be finishing our The Good Path book next week in social studies. I hope you enjoyed learning about the beautiful values of the Ojibwe people. Here's your blog assignment for next week. You need to select one of the 9 core values of the Ojibwe people. It should be the value that you think is the most important value to your life.
1. Tell what the value you is and state what it meant to the Ojibwe people. 2. Give an example of how the Ojibwe lived this value. 3. Tell what it means to you, and give one or two examples of how you will live this value out in your life. This is, of course, organized as a PARAGRAPH. Please complete this blog assignment by next Thursday at the latest. It is worth 10 social studies points! Hi 6th graders! Pick your favorite event from Halloween and blog about it on the website. You can choose your style of writing. Just make sure that you pick one thing and really explain why you enjoyed the activity. Get this done by Friday, November 4, 2011. Thanks!
Hello 6th graders. We've had a few good times in the last week. We went on an exciting camping trip. Today we celebrate fall with many fun events. Please select one event from the past two weeks and write a good paragraph about it for our blog. Remember what makes a good paragraph: topic sentence, colorful details and a good closing sentence. Please finish this assignment by the end of next week.
O.k. 6th graders. It is time to start doing some blogging. Since school began we have been on two trips to the arboretum, we picked vegetables from the garden, and we made vegetable soup. During the first week of school we went swimming two times. We have finished a great book called, A Single Shard and we have learned about Benedictine values. I'd like you to write a paragraph about one of the things we've done so far this year. Just click on comments, write your paragraph and then publish it. I will o.k. your entry and then you'll be able to find it on the website. Remember, a paragraph is just like a sandwich. It had a top bun ( the topic sentence), lots a wonderful insides ( the details), and a bottom bun ( a closing sentence). Good luck, have fun. Finish this assignment before we head for our camping trip next week!
Hey 6th graders. We've taken a long time off from blogging. You have two weeks to complete the next blog assignment. It is due the Wednesday after your break. That will be March 23. You just need to write one paragraph about something we do during the next two weeks. There will be some good events to write about. Please remember that I will be grading your sentence fluency in the paragraph. Thanks for writing.
Today was a great day to be a 6th grader at SJP. We had a great day outside with Sarah and got to do some awesome experiments about our animal adaptation. We also got to see a live presentation about Harriet Tubman. Pick your favorite and blog about it!
Hello 6th graders! Some of you took sometime to volunteer with Kids Against Hunger today. Please feel free to blog about your experience. I'll enjoy learning about the experience.
